Scallywag Whisky – The Ultimate Chocolate Companion


World Chocolate Day is today 7th of July and to commemorate the indulgent occasion, Douglas Laing’s Scallywag Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky have launched its annual special bottling: Scallywag Chocolate Limited Edition #4.

The fourth release is a marriage of 100% Sherry matured Single Cask Single Malts only from Speyside. Each cask is said to have been hand-selected for its “cocoa-rich tasting notes”. The resulting spirit unveils a “natural burnt sienna colour” with delectable notes of “creamy chocolate icing, juicy dates and rich red fruits”. This full-bodied dram has been bottled at a high alcohol strength of 48%, proudly without colouring or chill-filtration.

The series has gained significant traction since the inaugural bottling in 2018, and with only 3,000 bottles of the latest edition available globally, those who have been patiently waiting in anticipation of the 2021 release are advised to snap one up quickly to avoid disappointment. 

In tandem with the new launch, the award-winning Speyside Malt has partnered with luxury Chocolatier – Sugarsnap – to create a set of bespoke Scallywag Whisky infused chocolates boasting decorative colourways inspired by Scallywag packaging. The partnership is set to elevate Scallywag’s positioning as “the ultimate chocolate companion” by showcasing how first, the chocolate inspired the Whisky, and now, how the Whisky has come full circle to inspire the chocolate. Scallywag’s “Small Batch, Big Flavour” ethos is said to have been “honoured” throughout the entire chocolate-making process. This mouth-watering collaboration is set to be dripped out on World Chocolate Day (Wednesday 7th July) before flowing into a full month of tempting social media activity, mainly on Instagram (@scallywagwhisky).

It is with heavy hearts we at The Strong Water Co, will have close due to a family bereavement on the 4th of February.
As a family run business we’ve decided to pause all operations on the 4th of February while we tend to our sad news and try and have the best send off possible. We’ll resume deliveries on the Friday in the afternoon.

You may have heard that courier companies currently have massive volumes of packages in transit, some as much as 50% more daily than last December.
#
Because of this, some of our customers are experiencing delays in receiving their goods. This is out of our hands but between ourselves and our courier broker we are monitoring shipments.
#
For the above reason we are withdrawing the use of Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded at the moment and sending all our shipment out on either TNT Express, DHL Express or UK Mail Express depending on the shipment location.
#
For all pre-Christmas orders we suggest ordering ASAP and we will be processing orders daily to get them out ASAP.
#
We suggest getting all shipping orders in by Sunday the 20th of December 5pm, to allow orders to get the Monday morning trunk.
#

Introducing Chef Lisa Howard-Sorrell

"At Home Dining" with The Strong Water Co.

 

We will be working in collaboration with Chef Lisa Howard-Sorrell. 

Lisa Howard-Sorrell took the scenic route on her journey to cooking. Beginning with a detour through an economics degree and a few years working in the drinks industry in New York. Looking for a change she began working as a cook in a local restaurant while studying for a biology degree. It quickly became clear that she had found her passion in the kitchen. From there she attended Edinburgh New Town Cookery School and landed a job at noted Edinburgh restaurant- Castle Terrace. With that experience she joined Appetite Events a decorated catering company with an award winning kitchen lead by Iain Thomson.

When the Pandemic struck Appetite was forced to furlough it’s staff. Not wanting to lose momentum Lisa joined Edinburgh Food Social’s Food for Good coalition as a volunteer. During lockdown their small kitchen team sent out over 50,000 meals to vulnerable people in the community. Finally, Lisa has arrived in Banchory, delighted to team up with Strong Water Co. in creating a unique dining experience inspired by the wealth of fresh seasonal ingredients the area has to offer.
