Domaine Chante Cigale ‘L’Apostrophe’

Domaine Chante Cigale ‘L’Apostrophe’

Rhone Valley - France - 2020

14% ABV

A robust, Southern Rhône-style red blend with a lovely wild, garrigue character.

Tasting notes

Savoury black fruit with hints of liquorice and black pepper on the nose, leading to a currently cool and slightly restrained palate. Rich and powerful - the Grenache adds flesh - this has all the intense flavours of the south.

Food match

Richly flavoured casseroles and grilled meats, baked Mediterranean chicken.

Sourced from a vineyard in Travaillon, 10 miles from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vines are 35 years old and they grow in soils made up of clay and chalk covered with a layer of pebbles, which naturally keeps yields low. After a manual harvest and grape selection, grapes are destemmed, crushed and cold macerated. Fermentation is for two weeks at 28ºC with daily pumping over. It is aged on its fine lees for 6 months in stainless steel.
