Little Brown Dog Gin – Scottish Craft Gin with Local Botanicals

One of the standout releases from Little Brown Dog Spirits is their award-winning Scottish gin, created using Scottish juniper sourced from a secret local location alongside carefully foraged botanicals from around Aberdeenshire.

The result is a beautifully balanced gin with fresh herbal character, bright citrus notes and a distinctly Scottish personality. It’s a fantastic example of how local ingredients and small-batch distilling can create genuinely unique spirits.

Le Petit Chien Brun Calvados Collaboration

Little Brown Dog also collaborated with legendary Calvados producer Christian Drouhin on two remarkable bottlings under the name Le Petit Chien Brun.

One expression matured in a Sauternes cask, while the second spent time in an Arran whisky cask. Each release features distinctive label artwork designed to capture the character and style of the spirit — something that has become a hallmark of Little Brown Dog releases.

These bottlings perfectly showcase the creativity and flavour-led approach that defines the brand.

Experimental Spirits for Whisky Drinkers

Alongside whisky, Chris and Andrew continue to experiment with spirits designed specifically for adventurous drinkers. Their so-called “gateway rum for whisky drinkers” bridges the gap between rich rum character and whisky complexity, while their fascinating High Rye Scottish Spirit hints at American whiskey inspiration — something eagle-eyed drinkers may notice from the subtle Bourbon Cream biscuit imagery hidden within the label design.

These releases demonstrate the playful side of Little Brown Dog Spirits while still maintaining exceptional balance and drinkability.

Independent Scotch Whisky Bottlers with a Serious Reputation

While the experimental releases attract attention, the core of the Little Brown Dog range remains their outstanding Scotch whisky bottlings.

Their releases include exceptional blended whiskies such as the hugely popular Campbeltown Megablend, which famously contains parcels of 12-year-old and 21-year-old Springbank whisky.

Given how difficult Springbank has become to source — often requiring ballot entries and long waiting lists — using mature stock within a blend may initially sound surprising. However, the final result is one of the most balanced and flavour-packed Campbeltown-style whiskies available, delivering incredible value for money at around £59.

Little Brown Dog’s ability to create these whiskies comes from maintaining a carefully curated library of ageing casks. Each cask is monitored over time before being selected for either single cask release or inclusion within bespoke small-batch blends.
