Tasting Notes

By law, VSOP Armagnac must be aged for a minimum of four years. In a relentless pursuit of quality, Castarède's VSOP is in fact matured for eight, making it closer to an XO. This amber-colored marvel has notes of walnut, plum crumble, coconut, and honey on the nose, and is warming, subtle, and balanced in the mouth.

Production Method

With more than 175 years of experience, devotion & work, the Castarède family knows how to select the best possible Bas Armagnac grapes in addition to growing its own, on its estates in the region. After fermentation into a fine acidic, light wine, the crucial distillation process follows in Armagnac stills. Maturation is in oak barrels for eight years, which three more years than the statutory minimum for VSOP Armagnac.
