Tasting Notes

Pale yellow in colour. Rich, with notes of acacia, honey and lime on the nose. On the palate it possesses amazing concentration of fruit balanced by fine minerality and crisp acidity. An off-dry Riesling with amazing concentration and finesse. 

Food Matching: A truly noble variety and one that is surprisingly adaptable to many different styles of food ranging from fish to poultry. 

Bottle Information

Vineyard: Vineyard: The grapes come from vineyards in Nahe, the climate of this wonderfully fertile region is ideal for growing expressive Riesling. The sloping vineyards face South at an altitude of 160-190 metres above sea level. The vines average 35 years old, they are planted at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare with yields of around 55hl/ha. Grapes are harvested by hand. 

Vinification: Grapes are sorted manually and destemmed, skin contact lasts for 4-8 hours and pressing is by pnuematic press. Each vineyards pickings are fermented separately and blended before bottling. Fermentation commences using wild and cultured yeasts in stainless steel tanks and lasts for 40 days at 12-15°C. The wine is matured on its lees for 6-12 weeks in the tanks with malolactic fermentation prevented, no oak contact ensures the wine retain its varietal character and clearly expresses the local terroir. The wine is filtered and bottled.
