Little Brown Dog - November Releases Revealed
Another great line-up from Andrew & Chris..
*Secret Highland 2011 (Clynelish)
A vatting of two bourbon hogsheads, 480 bottles
Filled 08/06/2011 Bottled 24/10/2025
Notes from Chris & Andrew;
Why we bottled this – Cask strength Clynelish in the sweet spot between cask influence and that stunning waxy spirit character with a classic age statement. Doesn’t need much of an explanation!
SINGLE CASK – 1st fill bourbon, 252 Bottles
Filled – 16/10/2014 Bottled – 20/10/2025
Notes from Chris & Andrew;
Why we bottled this – This cask has been one of our favourites in the warehouse for some time, and now feels like the right time to bottle it. We really don’t get much Longmorn through the doors and are excited to share this. We love how the pale colour does not prepare you for just how much is going on with this whisky —a brilliant example of how colour is not the most important thing in a whisky, something we bang on about a lot.
Bruichladdich 2003 – Aged 22 years
SINGLE CASK – Bourbon Barrel, 140 Bottles
Filled - 25/05/2003 Bottled – 21/10/2025
Notes from Chris & Andrew;
Why we bottled this – This barrel was part of a 4-cask parcel; we bought the entire parcel purely to get this cask. It is an absolute stunner. We’ve tried many private cask Bruichladdichs, but few have the depth, texture and immense character of this one. We were immediately smitten. Genuinely upsetting for us that we only have 140 bottles to share globally, as this one deserves to be tasted. This obviously means it’s a bit more expensive than this one, but we think it still represents very fair value for the age, distillery and exclusivity. We’ve done something slightly different with bottling this one, switching to a 20micron filter rather than the standard finer filters. We did this to give as close to a raw, direct-from-the-cask experience for our customers. The texture of this cask is exceptional, and the wider filter helps preserve this. As a result, expect some very fine cask char sediment to settle, but we think this only adds to the experience.
300 bottles
Filled - 06/11/2017 Bottled - 29/10/2025
Notes from Chris & Andrew;
Why we bottled this -- We are nerds, we love the diversity of the world of whisky, and this intriguing 5 | P a g e spirit has a great story and highlights some of the greyer areas in the legislation. We don’t think there are many bottlers out there who could bottle something like this, but LBD customers are as nerdy as us and have a great understanding of the process. Fundamentally, though, this is just great liquid (almost called it whisky there) and at a great price, an opportunity for us to experience what a bourbon-style of whisky, distilled in Scotland, would taste like.
project Aberdeenshire Single Malt -Aged 12 Years
Limited to 500 bottles
Non chill filtered, natural colour, 46%vol. A vatting of 60% 1st fill bourbon and 40% sherry (PX and oloroso, refill and 1st fill).
Notes from Chris & Andrew;
This year, we’ve been working on our biggest project to date. We love doing what we do and are proud of the reputation and following that we are growing as independent bottlers. We often explain that the challenge of indie bottling is looking for individual casks with distinct character, and how this is a different approach from producing repeatable batches of larger volumes of whisky. This year, we have been working on a project that we call our Aberdeenshire Single Malt. Our own take on a core expression, a 12-year-old Glen Garioch. Our cask management, our blending, our decisions. The plan had been to release this for Q4 2025, but delays with dry goods stalled this. However, the vatting has been done, we’ve tried out the recipes in the wild, and we want to bring a little PRE PRODUCTION PREVIEW to our friends…
