Henners Sauvignon Blanc
Henners Sauvignon Blanc 2024
English Sauvignon Blanc with a difference – crisp, aromatic and beautifully fresh, with a flinty mineral edge and just enough barrel fermentation to give it a bit more weight and character.
Henners might be best known for their brilliant English sparkling wines, but they're proving there's plenty more to English wine than fizz.
This 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is made from fruit grown on the Essex–Suffolk border. The grapes were allowed extra time on the vine to develop full ripeness before being harvested, giving the wine plenty of flavour while retaining the freshness and acidity you'd expect from Sauvignon Blanc.
There's some clever winemaking going on here too. After an overnight maceration and cool fermentation, around 20% of the wine is fermented in second-fill French oak barrels and left on its lees for three months.
Don't expect a big, oaky Sauvignon. The barrel fermentation is there to add texture and complexity rather than obvious oak flavour, giving the wine a little more depth while keeping everything wonderfully fresh.
Why We Like It
We drink plenty of Sauvignon Blanc, but this is something a little different.
You still get the aromatic freshness and crisp acidity that makes Sauvignon so easy to drink, but there's a lovely flinty, mineral character running through it and a bit more texture from the partial barrel fermentation.
If you're normally reaching for Loire Sauvignon Blanc or good cool-climate Sauvignon, give this a go. And being
