Awards and Press News: SILVER MEDAL, Decanter World Wine Awards 2014 "... If you want to see how undervalued sherry actually is, you should try drinking theiodiney and refreshingly dry SanchezRomate Bella Luna..." Anthony Rose, The Independent Magazine, 23 March 2014 Decanter Panel Tasting: Top-ratedFino and Manzanilla - Decanter average score: 18.5/20pts (95/100pts) "SanchezRomate is internationally known for its brandy, Cardenal Mendoza Solera GranReserva. Yet it has a very long history in Sherry, being founded in Jerez in 1781, and having only entered the brandy business a century later. The house makes a fine collection of classic styles, fromfino to oloroso and PX. What is particularly distinctive about the company is that its wines are excellent value for money, given their age and quality. This is where Bella Luna fits:typically freshfino, in a half bottle, screwcapped and ready to drink and enjoy." Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW - 18.5/20pts "Wonderfully restrained and classic, with a nutty, long finish." Sarah Jane Evans MW - 18.5/20pts "Savoury earthy bready aromas. Brisk, bright, pungent wine which develops into a full body. A classicfino with the refined balance of yeast, dryness, and spiciness. Very long." Nick Room - 18.5/20pts "Classic, pungent, and very yeasty. Quite complex and characterful with a long finish." Founded in 1781, this bodega is one of the few in the region still family-owned. This is a great value aperitif: restrained, classicfino with a prominent yeasty bite from theflor, almond hints, and a superbly long finish. Grab thejamon and olives!
