Fontedella VignaSangiovese Merlot
Italy – 2020
Tasting Note: Intense red ruby colour, with violet hue. Intense and complex nose of cherry, blackberry, violet, sweet spice and dye flowers, with a light oaky hint. Gentle and charming on the palate, with smooth tannins, proper freshness, and delicious mineral finish.
Food Matching: Great with tomato-based pasta dishes and burgers.
Vineyard: The vineyards are located in the Romagna area of Italy with clay soils on a hilly site of 100m-300m with North-East, South-East exposure. Single Guyot trellising system is used with a mix of hand and mechanical harvesting.
Vinification: Grapes, some hand harvested, are destemmed and fermented at 25°c for 10 days, onthe skin to enhance tannin and colour extraction. MLF is encouraged after first racking off. Wine is fined and filtered before bottling.
