The Glenallachie Virgin Oak Series, has first been matured in American oak barrels (Quercus Alba) Ex-Bourbon Barrels. To add a delicate and distinctive twist, the Whisky then underwent additional maturation for approximately 18 months in a specially selected Virgin Oak Casks
The subtle flavour differences in this series are led by a variety of influences: the Oak species, the local terrior and the period of natural air drying, along with the toasting, charring and cooping of the casks. Each of these reacts uniquely with The Glenallachie spirit, adding superb texture, depth and variety.
Tasting Notes
This innovative malt attains its vibrant oaky spice and soft berry-fruit flavours from Hungarian Oak (Quercus Petraea) sourced from the Zemplén Forest in the mountains of northeast Hungary, near the winemaking district of Tokai. Its rocky volcanic soil, along with colder climate and higher altitude, means that the trees in this region grow very slowly, creating a tight grain - a desirable trait for aging spirit. The result is an aromatic, well-balanced expression delivering silky smooth richness.

Nose: Bursting with butterscotch, citrus and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, raisins, orchard fruits and ginger
Taste: Lashings of heather honey and cinnamon, followed by chocolate, lemon drops and caramelized brown sugar.
