Tasting Notes

Nose: Crème brûlée, toasted hazelnuts, warm nutmeg, honeyed oats and buttery shortbread, balanced by fresh citrus and coastal sea air. 

Palate: Luxuriously smooth with notes of orange zest, honeysuckle, apple, pear and warming spice. Layers of crème brûlée sweetness develop alongside gentle maritime salinity. 

Finish: Long and elegant with lingering spice, toasted nuts, oak influence and a subtle Islay coastal character. 

Maturation

Matured for 14 years entirely on Islay, Yellow Submarine Reclassified combines 25% first-fill bourbon barrels with 75% first and second-fill French red wine casks. The result is a beautifully balanced whisky that marries Bruichladdich's floral, fruit-forward spirit with layers of spice, texture and complexity from the cask selection. Bottled non-chill filtered and with no added colouring. 

The Story Behind Yellow Submarine

The Yellow Submarine legend began when a remote-controlled Ministry of Defence submarine was discovered off the coast of Islay near Bruichladdich Distillery. The unusual find inspired one of the distillery's most memorable bottlings, originally released in 2005. This Reclassified edition honours that story while celebrating 25 years of Bruichladdich's modern era.
