Glen Elgin 2013 13 Year Old – Little Brown Dog Spirits

A characterful 13-year-old Glen Elgin Single Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled by Aberdeenshire independent bottler Little Brown Dog Spirits.

Distilled on 6th March 2013, this Glen Elgin was matured in a refill Pineau des Charentes barrique before being bottled on 22nd July 2026 at a natural 56.2% ABV cask strength.

Only 265 bottles were produced.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Blackcurrant Chewits, white tea and apricot jam.

Palate: Madeira cake, grenadine and Cognac.

Finish: Candied ginger, light tamarind and fresh rocket.

A Glen Elgin with a Difference

Glen Elgin is a distillate Little Brown Dog regularly returns to, but this release takes an unusual route through maturation in a refill Pineau des Charentes barrique.

The relatively delicate influence of the cask allows the distillery character to remain at the heart of the whisky while adding fruit, texture and complexity. The result is a beautifully balanced Glen Elgin with an unusual cask story behind it.
