Maso Toresella Riserva Chardonnay 2023

A seriously good Italian Chardonnay – fresh, elegant and beautifully balanced with just the right amount of oak.

Maso Toresella comes from the Valle dei Laghi in Trentino, in the foothills of the Dolomites in northern Italy. The altitude and cooler mountain climate are ideal for Chardonnay, helping the grapes retain plenty of freshness while developing lovely ripe fruit.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the grapes are picked by hand, carefully selected and gently pressed. The wine is fermented in oak barriques before spending six months maturing in barrel, followed by a further six months resting in bottle.

The result is a Chardonnay with plenty going on. There's fresh lemon zest and crisp apple on the nose, followed by ripe apricot, peach and melon on the palate. The oak brings a gentle toastiness and extra texture without taking over, while bright acidity keeps everything fresh and balanced.

Why We Like It

This is a great bottle for anyone who enjoys Chardonnay with a bit of weight and oak but doesn't want anything overly buttery or heavy.

There's plenty of ripe fruit and texture, but the cool Trentino climate gives it the freshness to keep everything in check. Think somewhere between a crisp northern Italian white and a richer barrel-aged Chardonnay – properly food-friendly and very easy to go back for another glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh lemon zest and crisp apple with subtle toasted and savoury notes.

Palate: Ripe apricot, peach and honeydew melon with beautifully integrated oak, a touch of toast and fresh, crisp acidity.

Finish: Fresh and persistent with ripe stone fruit, citrus and a gentle savoury oak character.

Food Pairing

A brilliant wine for food. Try it with grilled or baked fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta, seafood or risotto. It has enough body to cope with richer dishes while retaining the freshness you want from a good white wine.
