Edradour 2015 | 11 Year Old | St. Michael-Eppan Chardonnay Cask

A beautifully distinctive expression of Edradour, showcasing the characterful Highland spirit of one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries alongside the elegant influence of Italian Chardonnay casks. Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2026 at 11 years old, this whisky was matured in first-fill Chardonnay hogsheads sourced from St. Michael-Eppan, a renowned winery based in Alto Adige, northern Italy.

Edradour’s naturally rich and malty spirit makes an excellent partner for wine cask maturation, and the Chardonnay casks bring a noticeably different character to the whisky. Rather than the darker, richer profile associated with sherry casks, the wine influence here adds layers of ripe orchard fruit, citrus, vanilla and gentle creaminess, while allowing the underlying Edradour character to remain firmly at the centre.

St. Michael-Eppan is one of Alto Adige’s most respected wineries, and its Chardonnay brings a distinctly fresh, fruit-driven influence to the maturation. The result is an unusual and expressive Edradour that demonstrates just how versatile the distillery’s spirit can be when paired with carefully selected wine casks.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh and inviting, with ripe apple and pear alongside lemon curd, vanilla and honeyed malt. Delicate white flowers and creamy oak develop in the glass, with a subtle buttery character from the Chardonnay cask.

Palate: Rounded and rich, with orchard fruits, citrus and sweet malt at the forefront. Vanilla cream and soft spice add richness, while the Chardonnay influence brings a gentle buttery texture and fresh wine-cask character.

Finish: Smooth and gently warming, with lingering notes of apple, lemon, vanilla and sweet oak. A delicate wine-cask richness remains on the finish, leaving the whisky fresh and pleasantly rounded.

This is an especially interesting release for anyone who enjoys wine-matured Scotch whisky or wants to explore Edradour beyond its more familiar sherry and bourbon-cask expressions. The combination of robust Highland malt and first-fill Chardonnay maturation creates a whisky that is fruity, creamy and expressive, while retaining the distinctive character that makes Edradour so recognisable.
